First, my background. I am a Medical Assistant at a local acute psychiatric inpatient hospital, and both my parents are physicians with over 70 years of combined experience in practice. They have worked together at an outpatient, private practice psychotherapy and medication clinic for the majority of this time, with my father also engaging in careers outside of this location. To help treat the influx of patients needing psychotherapy and medication management for mental illness in our area, we looked into EHR software that would allow us to file insurance claims and do billing. We tried SimplePractice out, and let me just copy and paste the review I left on TrustPilot for you:
Charged me – then said I was “risk”, terminated no refund!
So I signed up for this software a month ago and had fun trying it out. Everything checked out. When the trial ran out, I purchased a month for 55$ and filed an insurance claim on 2 appointment dates for a patient. Later that day, my son added his Chime account to the Online Billing setting of our control panel, and it said we were verified. The next day, we received an e-mail saying our account was “under review”, and today we got notified that our account was being terminated with no refund. These people didn’t even give an explanation.
Here are photos showing the order and days in which this all occurred:

In case the images don’t load, first, SimplePractice EHR accepted my $55 payment for a month of service. Then, it said I had to verify my identity when setting up a recipient bank account for online billing, and after that, it told me it was verified. They claimed I was under review, then, at last, Erika from customer support says “We have made this determination, and this message serves as notice that termination of your account will be performed in 7 business day(s). ” at the end of a message talking about some random Terms of Service BS that was never violated. There was no mention of a refund, and this all occurred within approximately 3 days.
Let this be a warning to anyone considering using SimplePractice.com and their EMR software. These guys are crooks!
