state hospital commitment

So in Mississippi, all you have to do is complain that someone is acting a way you don’t like, and they get court-committed to a locked psychiatric institution for months to learn their lesson.

They drive to fast, they drank a beer after work, they flipped you off? Perfect reason to file a “writ” in Chancery Court and get that person a one way ticket to the state mental hospital.

In Mississippi there are 4 state mental hospitals. I got sent to South Mississippi State Hospital in Purvis, MS.

Imagine an overcrowded insane asylum, except in a strip mall. That’s pretty much how it was. 50 people and only 25 chairs for groups that they force you to do or they make you stay longer. The average stay was 4-6 weeks, but some elderly had been in there for 5+ months because they don’t have an address to parole out to.

They say it’s a gaurenteed shot at a disability check, but I say it will take your whole household from you as you can’t work or pay bills and will go default and bankrupt while you are there with no assistance.

If you need to get back at someone in Misssippi, please consider this as an option.

Happy New Years, everyone!
